Lisa and Michael had been together for 6 years before they were engaged. After being in all her best friends and her sister’s weddings, they decided that they wanted to do something a little different. They chose to marry each other on a cruise ship headed to the Caribbean and celebrate the first week of their marriage with only their closest family and friends.

Lisa made her broach bouquet and her head piece. One of her bridesmaids is also her hair stylist and I played double duty also as her bridesmaid and her photographer. Our first port of call landed us in Labadee, Haiti and as the sun rose over the Caribbean Sea, Lisa had her hair done again and they dressed in their wedding attire. As I knelt on the floor to lace up the back of her Maggie Sottero gown, Michael said “I don’t think I have any friends who would wake up this early to do my hair and help me into my clothes first thing in the morning.” Lisa replied, “I know. That’s because I have amazing friends.”

We were some of the first people off the ship and we walked to the beach for their bridal portraits. Their first dance as husband and wife was to Free by Zack Brown Band and it was so fitting to have their photos taken on the beach as they walked hand in hand, just like in the song, just the two of them. It was such an incredible feeling to be in such a beautiful place with an amazing couple, documenting the first days of their marriage, knowing that their union wasn’t just one day to celebrate, but the beginning of a beautiful journey as they create their legacy.

Lisa and Michael, you two make such a great couple and it is truly and honor to know you. Thank you for braving the heat and humidity to create these beautiful portraits. I hope you treasure them and each other for many years to come!
