So Long 2015, Hello 2016!

As cliche as it sounds, I honestly cannot believe that it’s already 2016!  2015 flew by so fast and so I wanted to share a little about some of my favorite moments of this past year and a little of my dreams for this new one!

This last year brought on the birth of my nephew, JonMark; my brothers wedding and the addition of a sister; my best friend getting married on a cruise ship to the Caribbean and getting to spend a week on the bluest waters I’ve ever seen.  I celebrated my blog’s 1 year anniversary,  and Eli and I became part of a new church family which we are continually blessed by.  I also pushed myself to meeting new people and making connections and new friends.

A lot happened and I am so grateful for everything I went through, the good and the not so good.  Sometimes trials seems really hard but once we surpass them, we can look back and see how much stronger they’ve made us.  I know that for me personally, I had to get over myself in a lot of areas.  I would be lying if I said that I didn’t struggle with the fear of missing out or thinking that I wasn’t as good as others.  I went through a rough transition this year where I had to let go of the past and let go of wondering what other people thought about me.  I decided that I needed to look ahead and put my best foot forward.  I am such a people pleaser and one thing I’ve learned is that you can’t make everyone happy and that’s ok!  When we start focusing on saying yes to the things that God has for us, we make way for His blessings and so many wonderful things that He has in store for us.  And they are always better than anything we could ever hope for!

For this new year, I could be technical and specific with my goals and say things like, rebrand, shoot more weddings, submit more work for publications, learn how to bake madeleines, ect.  But really, in 2016, all I really want is to make time for the people in my life that are important to me; my family, my friends and my clients and to be the best that I can be.  I want to experience life to it’s fullest and feel that I am making a difference in people’s lives through my words and my photography.  I am excited to see where this year takes me and to photograph all the beautiful things life brings my way.

On Instagram, everyone has been posting their “best nine” photos lately and so I wanted to share 9 of my favorites from 2015.  I am so thankful for each of these moments and for all the opportunities I had to capture them.

I sincerely hope that 2015 treated you well and that even if it didn’t, I hope you were able to grow past the bad and become stronger for it.  I hope that your dreams come true this year so that new ones can come to pass as well.  Here’s to fresh starts, new beginnings, more of the amazing, and less of the mediocre.

Happy New Year, xo, Sarah
