Grand Palace Ballroom Wedding Reception // Haroon & Raisa

When I was in college, I had a hard time choosing a major.  For the longest time I didn’t know what I wanted to do and then I finally chose Photography.  However, shortly after that, I fell in love with Anthropology.  I found learning about different cultures fascinating.  In my Art History classes, we learned about art and cultures from around the world, but Anthropology focused more on the behaviors of humans.  I decided I would double major and become a Visual Ethnographer.  Basically, I wanted to photograph people and tell their stories.  In time though, I realized that being a wedding photographer, I could do exactly that and so I graduated with my Bachelor’s of Arts in Photography.  I still dream of photographing around the world and learning about different cultures.  So when I was asked to photograph the wedding reception of a wonderful Pakistani couple, I was very excited!

Haroon and Raisa had a traditional wedding in Pakistan but planned on continuing their marriage celebration in Sacramento for all of their friends and family here.  It was such a beautiful event!  The decorations, stage design, florals and the cake were all created by We Do Designs Luxury Event Designs and Party Rentals.  Everyone seemed very happy and the amount of love in the room was so evident!  I loved being a part of their day and watching traditions continue on.  Respect is a very important part in their culture and maintaining tradition plays an influential role in that.

This was the first Pakistani event that I had photographed, but also the first I had attended.  A lot of what was said and all of what was sung might not have been in English, but the universal language of love spoke louder than all of it!

Haroon and Raisa, you are two of the kindest people I have had the pleasure of meeting and I pray that you enjoy your life together full of love and tradition!
