A Moment One Year In The Making

It’s hard to believe that its been 1 year since I launched this blog but it has been so nice to have a place where I can share my work and my heart!  I wanted to spend a little time today reflecting over the last year, and share some highlights with you!  So grab a drink and make yourself comfortable! 🙂

About a month after starting this blog, I decided to make a goal for myself to post at least 1 blog a week.  There were some weeks when I didn’t have any new work to showcase and sometimes when I had no idea what to say.  For a long time, I looked forward to this day and wanted to be able to say that yes! I had successfully blogged every week, but there is the thing called life that tends to happen and there were quite a few weeks without a post.  It wasn’t until the summer, when things got a little busy with bridal shower planning and moving to a new apartment that I wasn’t able to stay as consistent as I wanted.  I missed 2 weekly posts in June and 3 weekly posts in July.  Now, I could use this failure to berate myself for not being as prepared as I could have been or for not working far enough ahead, but instead I am going to give myself grace and be ok with the fact that there were other things more needing of my time.  I also decided I would rather skip a week than to produce content I wasn’t so excited about.

Going forward into the next year, I still would like to continue with my current bog schedule of 1 post every Saturday afternoon.  I would love to see my weekly posts grow to 2 or 3 posts and hopefully it will.  I would also like to start a once a month series where I share 3 or 5 things that inspire me or that I’m loving because I think it would be fun to be able to have my readers get to know me a little more.  I noticed that sometime, my blog had more traffic when I posted personal posts than it did if I posted some recent work, so that tells me that you tend to like those posts.  I will also be launching an exciting new part of my website within the next couple months so stay tuned for that!!

Here are some of the most popular posts from this past year based on number of views.

I was actually very surprised by the response to this post.  I’m not sure why I decided to be so open and vulnerable in this post, but it was one of my most viewed in months.  I think it might have been in part to the title, but either way, I’ll take it!

Lisa & Michaels Engagement Session

I had the best time photographing Lisa and Michael near her parents home in Loomis, CA.  They are two of the sweetest people!  I love how they are best friends getting ready to tackle marriage and who don’t take themselves too seriously.  They aren’t afraid to be themselves with each other and I think that really shows how much you love and trust someone.

One of my goals for the year was to attend a workshop and I was so excited to attend the Seventh Heaven Vintage Workshop at the Lighthouse Glen Cove Marina in Vallejo CA,  that was put on by some amazing venders!  Not only was there so much prettiness to soak in, but it was also nice to meet some new friends!

I had been wanting to attend Dapper Day at Disneyland for almost as long as I could remember and so of course I was thrilled that Eli and I were able to go this Spring.  Even though it rained on us, we had a wonderful time!  One of the highlights was riding the Mark Twain with so many other dressed up people.  It really felt like a trip back in time!
