3 Tips For Choosing The Right Wedding Photographer
One of the biggest areas that engaged couples spend their wedding budget on is their wedding photographer. Long after the cake is eaten, the flowers have wilted, and the dress is cleaned and put away, your wedding album will stand the test of time and tell the story of your wedding day! With so many photographers and different photography styles out there, how do you pick the one that’s right for you??
Today, I am sharing 3 tips to help you make an informed decision when it comes to choosing a wedding photographer!
1) Figure out what style of photography you like the most
If you need help figuring that out, make a collection of wedding photos that you love! Either make a folder in your Saved section on Instagram or make a Pinterest board. After you get about 20 images in your collection, take a look at them and try to figure out what the common threads are. Are they mostly light and airy with a natural but classic look to them? Does the couple look like they are having fun? If you notice that the photos are all similar, I would say that is the type of photography you naturally are attracted to.
2) Ask for referrals!
If you have friends or family who have recently been married, ask them who their wedding photographer was. A recommendation from a trusted friend can really help. Plus you can see more of their work and get an idea of how their experience was. Or ask your wedding planner for recommendations. Your wedding planner will be great at helping to find a photographer that you will connect with and whose style will match the aesthetic of your wedding.
Once you find some photographers you like, look to see if they have reviews so you can hear from their past clients about their experience working together.
3) Get to know them
Your wedding photographer will be the vendor that you spend the most time with on your wedding day. So you want to make sure it is someone you know, like, and trust! One way to figure this out is to follow them on social media to see if they have similar interests as you. Another way is by having a wedding consultation. I always meet my brides before booking to ensure that we are a good fit and on the same page! Also doing an engagement session with them helps you to get to know them more before the big day!
Doing your research and knowing what you want are the biggest ways to right the right wedding photographer!
